THE POETRY OF R.S. THOMAS
Thursday 4th May: 10.30pm – Inspiring Personal New Beginnings, with lecturer Andy Jurgis
Popular local literature tutor Andy Jurgis returns with a fascinating exploration of the Welsh poet R.S. Thomas (1913-2000).
Thomas was one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, covering a wide range of themes in his work including nature, rural life, Wales and spirituality. This lecture will introduce R.S. Thomas’s poetry and also encourage you to be inspired by R.S.’s work to find personal new beginnings through engagement with the outer world of nature and one’s own inner self.
A one-hour lecture followed by questions and discussion. Refreshments will be available afterwards.
Andy Jurgis lives in Hartford, Cheshire and is a freelance adult education lecturer. Andy’s literary interests include 20th century and contemporary literature alongside environmental and nature writing.
