POET LAUREATE: SIMON ARMITAGE

Wednesday 3rd May: 7.30pm – Poetry reading, followed by questions and book signing

Sponsored by Main Street Kitchen

As our nation approaches the coronation of a new monarch during the festival, we are lucky to be able to host our national poet for an evening of inspirational words.

Simon’s numerous awards include an Ivor Novello and the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry. He has published over a dozen poetry collections, including Magnetic Field, two novels and three non-fiction bestsellers. A regular broadcaster, Simon presents the popular BBC Radio 4 series The Poet Laureate has Gone to his Shed.

The show will finish with Simon answering questions from the audience.

‘His verse is immediate, entertaining, engaged with the world.’ Independent on Sunday
